John has over 30 years of experience in the medical device industry, bringing new, innovative products to the market. John spent the majority of his career with Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) and MiniMed, where he was instrumental in leading a series of firsts in the world of diabetes, including the ambulatory continuous glucose monitoring system and the sensor augmented insulin pump. During his tenure in Medtronic’s Diabetes division, John held a number of positions, including CTO and Global VP of Clinical Research and Health Affairs. Before Movano Health, John was the COO of Orthosensor, Inc., which was acquired by Stryker (NYSE: SYK).
Michael is an MIT-educated, serial entrepreneur with expertise in airborne reconnaissance for the government. He has founded four RF-based start-ups, and led his last company to IPO. He has over 200 patents issued in smart antenna array for telecom/power. Michael has brought a team of seasoned engineers, many of whom have worked with him over the past 23 years, to apply their leading-edge expertise to Movano Health’s designs.
J. brings 24-years of experience on Wall Street to Movano Health. As portfolio manager at Ascend Capital, a multi-billion dollar hedge fund, and senior equity research analyst for Banc of America Securities, he specialized in the consumer, media and technology sectors. At Movano Health, J. is charged with overseeing corporate strategy, capital raising and financial planning and analysis. J. received a BA from the University of Pennsylvania.
Tyla has more than two decades of experience building global consumer marketing campaigns for top-tier brands. Before Movano Health, she was SVP of Marketing for Hydrow, where she successfully launched the connected rowing company’s first brand campaign, contributing to its impressive revenue growth. Tyla has also held various brand strategy and marketing leadership roles at Hasbro, where she oversaw the development of the company’s first D2C channel, as well as led strategy for a $1.5 billion global entertainment brand. She also served as VP of Brand Marketing at Twentieth Century Fox and was responsible for executing strategic business plans on new release titles and spearheaded the division’s rapid expansion into digital.
Kim is an accomplished executive with over 30 years of experience in quality assurance/quality systems, regulatory affairs, and clinical research, primarily at start-up medical device companies with Class II or Class III products. Throughout her career, she successfully implemented and oversaw regulatory and clinical strategy to secure FDA clearances on 27 medical devices. In addition to being a part of the Movano Health executive leadership team, she is the Principal Clinical Investigator for the Movano Health Clinical Lab, where she conducts IRB-approved clinical studies with human subjects. Kim holds degrees in Nursing and Computer Technology from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana University.
Michael’s passion for health and wellness was born out of an opportunity to work for BodyMedia, one of the first ever wearable device companies, and since then Michael has held numerous senior leadership roles managing global and national sales, strategic direction and new business development in the health, medical and wearable technology space. Most recently, he was Global Head of Business Development & Partnerships at Bose Health, and before that, he was a part of the leadership team at Weight Watchers Health Solutions, Medtronic, and Philips. Michael also has a proven track record of moving small to medium size companies to the next level, such as BodyMedia, which was purchased by Jawbone, and Misfit Wearable, which was acquired by Fossil.
Ed has over 25 years of engineering, product development, and team leadership experience. He spent 14 years at Microsoft (WebTV and XBOX), where he gained invaluable experience in design control and concept-to-release for consumer electronics. After Microsoft, he co-founded and led a medical SaaS startup (EMR/EHR) where he built the team and reached HIPAA compliant services within a year. Ed has also worked with health-tech startups such as Livongo Health (now Teladoc), iSono Health, and most recently Pulse Biosciences to lead and align teams for successful product development and release overseeing both hardware and software.
Rubén is a proven product and technology innovator and has over 25 years of experience in R&D, prototyping, designing, integrating, testing and shipping millions of world class consumer electronics with wireless technologies. Today, Rubén is Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President of Devices & Technology Engineering for the Mixed Reality Division, where he oversees Mixed Reality, AI and other special projects. Previously, he was the Vice President of Engineering at Apple, and one of the founding leaders of the iPhone hardware design team. His role later expanded to oversee development of the iPad, Apple Watch, Macintosh and other hardware products. Rubén’s senior executive role at Apple provided him with the opportunity to build and scale global teams, including the Wireless Design and Technology team of over 1,000 engineers in 26 countries for all the products and ecosystems at Apple.
Brian is an accomplished business executive with more than 35 years of experience working for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) until his retirement from the firm in 2020. While at PwC, Brian was an Assurance partner advising some of the firm’s most high-profile clients and their Boards and Audit Committees on strategic, financial and operational initiatives. Throughout his career with PwC, Brian held various senior leadership positions, including serving on PwC’s US Board for eight years (four years as its Lead Director) and being elected to PwC’s Global Board of Partners. In addition, during his time at PwC, Brian served as the firm’s Southwest Region Managing Partner responsible for driving strategy, growth and operations across the firm’s various business lines. Brian’s other roles included serving as the firm’s West Region Assurance Leader and as the US leader for the Entertainment, Media & Communications assurance practice.
Emily is the Chair of the Board at Movano Health. She has spent the majority of her career in executive leadership and management positions and as a seasoned investor and mentor to a variety of startups. She was co-founder and CEO of multi-billion-dollar hedge fund, Ascend Capital, for nearly two decades prior to retiring in 2018. The firm focused on managing assets for institutional clients such as pensions, endowments and public companies. Prior to Ascend Capital, Emily built a successful practice of equity portfolio construction and financial planning for high net worth clients for Merrill Lynch. Today, Emily is an active investor, serving on the funding board of MIT Sandbox Fund to mentor aspiring entrepreneurs, and is an engaged philanthropist with a history of supporting medical research, education and athletics.
